Dangdut and Coffee Promotion, Indonesia Opens Dangdut Cafe in New York

The Indonesian Dangdut Coffee House Forum (IDCH) plans to open a Dangdut Cafe (Dangdut Cafe) in New York in May 2021. This is to promote Indonesian dangdut music and coffee in the United States (US).

The new IDCH promotional platform was inaugurated on Friday (26/2) based on the idea of ​​the Indonesian Consul General in New York Arifi Saiman with dangdut singer Fitri Carlina and was also supported by the King of Dangdut Rhoma Irama, Dangdut in America, and We People of Culture (WEPOC).

Arifi is optimistic that dangdut will receive official recognition from the United Nations (UN) body for cultural and educational affairs, UNESCO.

“Let’s fight for dangdut together to get world recognition as our culture, so that dangdut becomes world heritage,” said Arifi.

Dangdut singer, Fitri Carlina, who appeared at sporting events in the US some time ago, also expressed her hope that dangdut music will gain a position on the world stage.

At the inauguration of IDCH, senior musician James F. Sundah, who is also part of the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN), emphasized the importance of respecting the intellectual rights of musicians.

“I hope that through this event, dangdut music artists can gain appreciation for copyright and related rights,” said James.
