GERMAN – In fact, the heat of the 2024 European Cup stage is not only presented by the players on the field. Outside the field, thousands of fanatical fans from each country are also holding a national food war.

1. Switzerland vs Hungary

It all started on the first Saturday of the tournament when a quick sign was noticed among the Swiss national team fans in Cologne. They threw a psywar that said ‘Fondue is better than Goulash’.

With national dishes chosen as the battleground, a Swiss fan attacked Hungarian fans by declaring his favorite dish of melted cheese was better than Hungary’s popular spiced paprika soup. The sign itself is very simple, but its meaning is very striking.

Fondue itself is the food that emerged as the winning dish when Switzerland silenced Hungary with a score of 3-1.

2. Italy vs Albania

The euphoria of this food war apparently continued several days later. This time it was the turn of Albanian fans who were filmed teasing their Italian opponents on the streets of Dortmund.

At that time, Albanian fans were seen breaking a bunch of spaghetti which is a typical Italian food. Meanwhile across the road, Gli Azzurri fans were seen begging Albanian supporters not to break spaghetti. Unfortunately the food fight that occurred before the match did not bring maximum results for Albania. They had to lose 1 – 2 to Italy.

3. Poland Vs Netherlands

Poland’s fanatical fans tried to call out Switzerland’s tactics by creating a commotion among the crowd during their opening Group B match against them Dutch . A handwritten poster says the spicy Polish kielbasa sausage is better than gouda, which is a famous type of cheese in the Netherlands.

4. Austria Vs France

There was more uncontrolled destruction ahead of Austria’s match against France in the first match of Group D of the 2024 European Cup. Like Albanian fans, dozens of Austrian fans smashed baguettes in front of French supporters. But all this ended with a good handshake between both parties.
