TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Eid al-Fitr is a celebration of the day that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The day when Muslims around the world celebrate their victory after a full month of fasting.
It is a day full of peace and joy, people gather in mosques to perform Eid prayers, visit relatives, enjoy delicious typical dishes and contribute to charitable causes.

Eid al-Fitr is a popular social tradition for Muslims, usually there will be a custom of distributing cash to children by their parents and older relatives in a family.
This money is considered a reward because the children successfully completed one month of fasting in the month of Ramadan.
So at this moment, there are also many typical Eid dishes served.
This typical dish is different in each country, here are a series of culinary dishes that are often served at Eid celebrations in various countries.
1. Maamul

Usually these snacks are filled with a variety of fillings, including dates, pistachios or walnuts, and often coated with powdered sugar.
2. Cambabur
Cambabur is a typical Eid bread that is usually consumed by Somali people.
This bread is similar to injera, a leavened Ethiopian white bread made from teff flour and similar in texture to crepes, but has different spices added to it.
During Eid al-Fitr, this bread is usually served sweet with a sprinkling of sugar and topping and additional yogurt for a sharp contrasting decoration.
This recipe is also very popular in Djibouti and may have originated there.
3. Sheer Khurma
Literally translated as ‘milk with dates’ sheer khurma is also known as semai in Bangladesh.
This sweet vermicelli dessert is a favorite Eid dish in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Sheer kurma is usually prepared with vermicelli, milk, sugar and dates, and also topped with pistachios, almonds or raisins, depending on the country where it is served.
4. Tajine
Tajine is often served in North African countries such as Morocco and Algeria.
This dish is a slow-cooked stew prepared with some type of meat, usually lamb or beef and added vegetables or fruit such as plums and apricots.
5. Doro wat
Doro wat is a delicious Ethiopian soup or curry prepared with chicken.
Typically this dish is consumed with classic injera bread and served on a large plate allowing everyone to enjoy this meal together.
6.Lokum
This dish, known in English as ‘Turkish delight’, is a favorite food for holiday moments such as Eid al-Fitr in Türkiye.
This dessert, which has a gel-like texture, is a combination of starch, sugar and other fillings such as dates, pistachios and walnuts.
It tastes delicious and is also one of the most attractive Eid desserts because it is available in various colors.
7. Tufahija
Tufahija is a dessert enjoyed by some Bosnians during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
This dish is boiled apples soaked in sugar and stuffed with walnuts.
It is often served rather elaborately in a large glass filled with syrup and topped with whipped cream.
8.Manti
Manti are dumplings typical of Eid al-Fitr in Russia, this food is thought to have originated from China and is a combination of Afghan, Armenian, Turkish, Bosnian and Central Asian cuisine.
This dish is usually filled with spiced lamb or beef and the size and shape vary from region to region.
9. Bolani
Bolani is one of the dishes enjoyed throughout Ramadan and can still be eaten during Eid al-Fitr celebrations and other special occasions throughout the year.
Invented in Afghanistan, Bolani is a thin-crusted bread filled with vegetables such as potatoes, lentils or pumpkin and can be served with yogurt.
It is usually served as a side dish or appetizer, although it can also be consumed as a main dish.
10. Lapis legit
Lapis legit is an Indonesian version of traditional Dutch layered cake that was developed during the colonial period.
This dish is made like a typical cake using ingredients such as flour, butter and eggs, but contains typical Indonesian spices such as cardamom and cloves.
It takes a lot of work to prepare this cake, so lapos legit is seen as a delicacy worthy of being eaten on special occasions.
11. Beef rendang
Rendang is a classic Eid dish in Indonesia and Malaysia.
This spicy dish originates from the Minangkabau tribe in Indonesia and is very rich in spices.
Interestingly, rendang has been named the most delicious dish in the world.
