Reporting from Longevity Technology (29/11), the benefits of coffee for reducing the risk of dementia were revealed by several experts. Dementia itself is defined as symptoms related to a decrease in brain function, namely memory.
Dr Deborah Lee from Dr Fox Online Pharmacy said that drinking coffee can reduce the risk of dementia by up to 65 percent. A study in 2010 also found that drinking about two to three cups of coffee every day can maintain brain health.
According to Dr Lee, this research found that the effect of preventing dementia may be due to caffeine which contains strong antioxidants. Brain neurons are highly susceptible to oxidative stress, which causes neuroinflammation. Then, this process results in impaired DNA repair, nerve cell damage, and destroyed mitochondria.

Research conducted by Tianjin Medical University looked at healthy people aged 50-74 years who consumed 2-3 cups of coffee or 3-5 cups of tea every day. Then, they also consume 4-6 cups of coffee and tea a day. As a result, the risk of dementia and stroke is reduced.
