Space Roastery is a business that offers quality coffee beans in the city of Yogyakarta which was founded by William and his partner Elvan Wenas.

William and Space Roastery had the opportunity to represent GoTo business partners to participate in the Indonesian Pavilion to introduce local products to the delegates of the 2023 World Economic Forum.

William said that he served a variety of mainstay menus at this international event, starting from Halu Pink Banana Filter Coffee, The Forbidden Fruit, Palm Sugar Milk Coffee, and Cappuccino.

“We are very happy and grateful to GoTo for giving this extraordinary opportunity to Space Roastery to be able to appear and introduce typical Indonesian coffee flavors to the WEF 2023 international delegation at the Indonesian Pavilion,” said William in a written statement, Friday (27/1 /2023).

He said that the coffee made by Space Roastery was also tasted by the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia. Reporting from Instagram Space Roastery, during the 4 days of implementation from 16-20 January 2023, Space Roastery can serve around 500 cups of coffee per day at the Indonesian Pavilion due to the high enthusiasm and curiosity of visitors about typical Indonesian coffee.

Space Roastery Business Trip

Initially the Space Roastery business was only set up in William’s family garage. He and his partner focused on starting a business by building a coffee sangria business. Then he bought a coffee bean roasting machine as initial capital.

During his journey, William realized that the coffee market in Yogyakarta was not very large. In order to increase sales and strengthen Space Roastery’s business operations, Space Roastery also utilizes a number of digital business solutions from the GoTo ecosystem.

He took advantage of the Tokopedia marketplace platform and created a website to increase sales and cover operational costs. Apart from that, Space Roastery also utilizes the GoFood platform so that customers can get Space Roastery products easily through the Gojek application.

Space Roastery has also put up a nameplate since joining GoFood. This is done to make it easier for driver partners to find outlet locations.

However, William admitted that many customers thought Space Roastery was a shop that sold coffee drinks. He also seized this as a good opportunity and developed his business by opening a coffee service for Space Roastery customers.

According to William, the typical Indonesian coffee served by Space Roastery is different from the coffee market in Indonesia. Starting from packaging to unique and attractive product naming. He explained several of Space Roastery’s mainstay menus, including Halu Pink Banana and Gayo Apple Cider.

“The digital business solutions that Space Roastery utilizes from the GoTo ecosystem are able to have a positive impact on our business by successfully increasing sales by up to 143% in 2021 compared to the previous year,” said William.

“Apart from that, Space Roastery is also able to absorb labor by empowering around 60 employees and on average every month in 2022, we will succeed in selling 1 million cups of coffee,” he added.

As the Space Roastery business develops, William also uses Moka and Midtrans to support business operational efficiency. By utilizing a variety of digital business solutions from the GoTo ecosystem, it has successfully increased sales and introduced various flagship products at international events.
