KOMPAS.com – If you are bored with fried chicken, you can cook it into chicken stew with potatoes.
This chicken stew is made with shallots, sweet soy sauce, red tomatoes, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, tamarind, pepper, garlic and salt.
Chicken stew is suitable if you like adding vermicelli, add it to the pan just before it is cooked.

Material:
- 1 chicken, cut into 8 pieces
- 350 grams of potatoes, peeled, cut into 4-6 pieces, fried and drained
- 500 ml chicken stock
- 1 tablespoon margarine for sauteing spices
- Enough fried onions for sprinkling
Spice:
- 7 red onions, finely sliced
- 4-5 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 1 red tomato, cut into pieces
- 3 cm of cinnamon the size of your index finger
- 1/4 nutmeg, crushed
- 2 cloves
- 1 tablespoon tamarind, mixed with a little water, strain
- Ground pepper and salt
Ground spices:
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 tsp chopped ginger

1. Salt the chicken and add enough lime juice, mix well, let stand.
2. Fry until brown, drain.
3. Saute the crushed shallots and spices until wilted. Add soy sauce and tomatoes. Saute until fragrant.
4. Add other spices, pour in chicken stock, bring to a boil. Add the fried chicken, season with pepper and salt according to taste, stir well and taste.
5. Cook over medium heat until the spices are absorbed, when almost cooked add the fried potatoes.
6. Serve sprinkled with fried onions.
Notes:
- You can add 25 grams of suun. Soak the vermicelli until soft and add to the stew just before it is cooked.
