Betawi Gado-Gado recipe, complete with sprinkled peanut sauce


KOMPAS.com – Gado-gado is usually the right choice for those who want to eat vegetables in a simple way. The key to making delicious gado-gado is the peanut sauce.

One of the gado-gado that you can try making is Betawi gado-gado. Some of the required fillings include fried tofu, long beans, cucumber, cabbage, bean sprouts, chayote, tempeh, and eggs.

Betawi gado-gado ingredients:

  • 1 piece of fried tofu (cut into pieces)
  • 1 bunch long beans (chopped)
  • 1 cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 200 grams cabbage (thinly sliced)
  • 50 grams of bean sprouts
  • 1 chayote (peeled and cut into pieces)
  • 1 kaffir lime leaf
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 stick of fried tempeh
  • 3 tablespoons peanuts
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 chicken egg (boiled and peeled)
  • Crackers to taste
  • Tamarind solution to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Soy sauce to taste
  • Brown sugar to taste

How to make Betawi gado-gado:

1. Fry the peanuts using medium heat until cooked, then remove and drain. Grind peanuts with garlic, kaffir lime leaves, salt and brown sugar.

2. Stir the crushed peanuts with the tamarind solution and sweet soy sauce, then set aside in a bowl.

3. Boil the cabbage, chayote, bean sprouts and long beans briefly, then remove and drain.

4. Prepare a plate and fill it with all the boiled vegetables, then pour the peanut sauce mixed with hot water before serving. Add fried onions and crackers if you like.
