Jakarta –
Gallstones can be caused by consuming unhealthy foods. To avoid the risk of this disease, avoid consuming the following foods.
Gallstones are a condition where deposits of cholesterol and bile salts harden and form small stones in the gallbladder. However, over time, these stones can enlarge and trigger problems with the flow of digestive enzymes from the gallbladder.
This enzyme in the gallbladder functions to break down fatty food entering the body.
When you eat, the gallbladder contracts pushing digestive enzymes out. However, the presence of gallstones can block contractions and be very painful.
To avoid this, limit consumption of the following gallstone-triggering foods:
1. Pizza

The pizza looks tempting with a variety of toppings. It’s just that these foods are high in fat, from sauces, cream, processed meats to flour dough for bread. The combination can make gallstones worse. Meanwhile, healthy people should limit pizza consumption to reduce the risk of gallstones.
2. Cream soup
Consuming cream soup can cause gallstones. This food clearly uses cream which is high in fat and salt. It’s best to choose a broth-based soup without cream or dairy products.
3. Chocolate
Snacks like chocolate should not be dangerous. However, for people with a history of gallbladder problems, chocolate is not a food that should be consumed regularly.
Types of chocolate that are high in fat can be foods that cause gallstones.
4. Junk food
Fast foods that fall into the ‘junk food’ category should be avoided. Junk food is usually high in sugar, salt and saturated fat. Not only the risk of gallstones, junk food also triggers the risk of weight gain and obesity.
5. Coconut milk food

Coconut milk is found in various Indonesian dishes. Indonesian people also have a tradition of processing coconut milk to celebrate Eid.
In moderate portions, coconut milk will not cause significant problems. On the other hand, when consumed too much, especially after repeated heating processes, coconut milk is at risk of triggering gallstones.
6. Processed meat and red meat
Foods that cause gallstones that are worth paying attention to are processed meat and red meat.
Processed meats such as sausages, corned beef, bacon, burger patties, are very high in salt content. Meanwhile, red meat contains a lot of fat even though it provides a supply of animal protein.
Salt and fat are two factors in the formation of gallstones. It’s best to avoid or reduce portions.
