Batagor Mackerel Fish Recipe in Peanut Sauce, Snack for New Year’s Eve


KOMPAS.com – New Year’s Eve is always synonymous with special dishes that pamper the taste buds. Mackerel fish Batagor with peanut sauce seems like it could be the right snack.

The following batagor recipe uses mackerel fish filling. Choose fish meat that is still fresh before processing so that the resulting batagor tastes more delicious.

The batagor here is made into three shapes, some are made round like meatballs, wrapped in wonton skin, and used as a filling for tofu.

Ingredients for mackerel fish batagor with peanut sauce:

  • 200 grams mackerel fish meat (finely ground)
  • 200 grams tapioca flour
  • 1 chicken egg
  • 15 ready-to-use fried tofu
  • 15 pieces of ready-to-use dumpling skin
  • Sufficient cooking oil

Batagor seasoning:

  • 1 spoon of garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon food flavoring

Batagor chili sauce ingredients:

  • 200 grams peanuts (fried and crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (ground)
  • 1 tablespoon red chili (ground)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil (for frying)
  • 5 red shallots (ground)

How to make mackerel batagor:

1. Mix ground fish meat, chicken eggs, ground spices and tapioca flour until evenly mixed. Meanwhile, cut the tofu diagonally in half, scoop out a little of the tofu filling, then set aside.

2. Divide the fish mixture into three parts, namely for the dough filling in the tofu, for the dough filling in the dumpling skins, and the dough to make into balls similar to meatballs.

3. Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan, then fry the tofu batagor, meatballs and dumplings until cooked. After that, lift and drain.

4. Saute the chilies, shallots and garlic in a pan until fragrant, then add the ground nuts, granulated sugar and water. Cook while stirring until the beans thicken.

5. Adjust the taste of peanut sauce with additional salt and seasoning, then remove from heat and serve batagor while warm with peanut sauce, sweet soy sauce, tomato sauce and chili sauce.
