KOMPAS.com – Nur Muhammad Agung, LnD Operations Specialist at Kopi Kenangan, advises coffee lovers to buy coffee beans rather than coffee grounds.
The reason is, coffee beans can be stored longer than coffee grounds. This makes it easier for coffee lovers to stock coffee at home.
“If it has been ground (grind), coffee is best brewed within 24 hours, it lasts one day,” said Agung when met by the media in the Memories Class at Kenangan Academy Jakarta, Wednesday (11/12/2024).

Coffee beans can be stored for up to one week at home if stored properly.
“If the coffee beans have been opened from the packaging (bag), it is highly recommended to consume it within one week,” said Agung.
“Coffee beans that have been ground must be brewed immediately because if they are stored and opened and closed frequently, oxygen will automatically enter and the quality will decrease,” he added.

That is why, according to Agung, it is legal to brew coffee grounds that have been stored for up to three days.
However, the taste and aroma of the coffee are not as good as those obtained from freshly ground coffee grounds.
“It’s better to buy coffee beans. If you want to drink coffee, just grind them. So the taste in (the coffee) is still there and can be enjoyed,” said Agung.
Also pay attention to how to store coffee beans for a week. Keep it away from sunlight, air and moisture so that its quality does not change.
