1. Alcoholic Drinks

Alcoholic drinks such as beer, wine and whiskey should be avoided to keep the body fit. Because consuming alcoholic drinks too often can affect intestinal health, which plays an important role in the immune system.

A 2021 study in ‘Toxicology Reports’ noted that alcohol can affect the diversity of healthy bacteria in the gut and contribute to reduced gut barrier function. Excessive alcohol intake can also inhibit the immune system’s ability to make the antibodies the body needs to ward off foreign invaders, such as flu viruses.

Alcohol also disrupts sleep, making the body tired easily. In fact, optimal sleep is very important for the immune system to remain in top condition.

2. Sweet Drinks

Sweet drinks should also be avoided if you want your body to maintain its immunity. Excessive sugar intake, including through sweet drinks, can have a negative impact on the body and weaken the immune system.

According to a 2022 study in Human Immunology, excessive intake of fructose (a type of sugar) changes the composition of the gut microbiota. So, it is more difficult for beneficial bacterial strains to reproduce.
