If you want a successful diet, there are several things you need to pay attention to. Don’t just limit calorie intake and choose the right type of food, but also pay attention to meal times.

For dinner, for example, there is a time recommended by nutritionists and research teams so that weight can be lost more quickly. This time is known as the “early bird approach.”

Quote New York Post (30/9/2024), the recommended dinner time is between 5 pm and 7 pm. This time allows you to adjust to your body’s natural circadian rhythm.

For your information, this rhythm affects metabolism, digestion and the release of hormones which peak during the day and slow down when night falls. If you eat too late, it can disrupt your circadian rhythm, disrupting your sleep quality, digestive system and mood.

“We know that when people eat late at night, they have a higher risk of obesity,” said Tara Schmidt, a nutritionist with Mayo Clinic Diet.

A 2022 study published in Cell Metabolism found that people who ate their main meal around 5 p.m. burned more calories than those who ate dinner later.

Eating 4 hours before bed is known to give you time to walk or do light activities so that digestion runs more smoothly. Calorie burning can also take place.

Experts say that eating too late can worsen stomach ulcers or acid reflux. A 2023 study found that those who ate dinner after 9 p.m. were 28% more likely to suffer a stroke.

Then every 1 hour after 8 pm, research participants who ate dinner were found to have an even higher risk of stroke. The number increased by 8%.

Apart from paying attention to dinner time, don’t forget to choose the right type of food. Avoid foods that are high in fat or acid, contain caffeine, and are too spicy because they can trigger indigestion and heartburn.

Foods that promote better sleep are a combination of good sources of low-fat protein, fiber and complex carbohydrates.

Research also shows that how we eat is as important as what and when we eat. If you chew more slowly, it can have a more positive effect on the body.

The benefits can be for weight loss. Because chewing more slowly allows a person to recognize when they are full and prevents overeating.

Awareness of the presence of food in the mouth forces one to eat more mindfully, which is key to truly enjoying it and knowing when to stop eating because enough is enough.
