Diabetes is a disease related to a person’s blood sugar levels. Sufferers are not allowed to consume sweet foods and drinks that contain excess sugar.

If you want to consume sweet foods and drinks, the sugar content must be within the limits or be natural. For drinks, water is the best drink to consume.

1. Herbal Tea

Tea is a drink that is commonly consumed every day. This drink also contains high antioxidant substances which can maintain the body’s immunity.

Apart from tea made from leaves, there are also herbal teas. This herbal tea can be made from various spices. Diabetics can consume it without sugar, one thing they can try is ginger tea.

2. Infused Water

Water can be made into infused water. Water with fruit or other ingredients added and left for a while.

Apart from being refreshing, infused water is also safe for consumption by diabetics. The concoction can be 2 slices of lime, strawberries and mint leaves. You can also add basil leaves, cucumber and ginger.

3. Coffee

Coffee is known as a drink that contains high antioxidant substances. The caffeine content is also useful in increasing immunity.

Black coffee without sugar has low calories. Kathleen Wyne, an endocrinologist at State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus says, “Caffeine is OK in moderation. The key is not to drink so much that you become dehydrated.”

Wyne also reminds us not to add a lot of milk, cream and sugar. Black coffee without sugar is the right blend.
