The General Election Commission (KPU) of Badung Regency has established the pair I Wayan Adi Arnawa and I Bagus Alit Sucipta (Adi-Cipta) as regents and deputy regents of elected 2025-2030 period. The determination was carried out through a plenary meeting on Thursday (9/1/2025), marking the end of a series of 2024 simultaneous local elections in Badung Regency.
The announcement of the elected pair was continued by the Badung Regional Representative Council (DPRD) in the plenary session on Wednesday (1/15/2025). The trial was chaired by the Chairman of the Badung DPRD, I Gusti Anom Gumanti, together with the Deputy Chairperson and a number of other board members. On the same occasion, the DPRD also announced the official dismissal of the previous regent and deputy regent pair, I Nyoman Giri Prasta and I Ketut Suinga.
“In accordance with the mandate of Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, after the winners of the elections were announced by the KPU, we must announce it in the DPRD. At the same time announced the dismissal of the previous regional head position because the term of office was completed,” Anom Gumanti said after the plenary session.
The Badung DPRD will subsequently propose the inauguration of the Adi-Cipta pair to the Minister of the Interior through the Governor of Bali. “We need to consult with the Bali Provincial Government as a representative of the central government,” Anom added.
According to Anom, a special plenary session will be held after the inauguration of the elected couple. He estimated that the inauguration could be done on February 10, 2025, although the schedule was definitely still waiting for confirmation.
“We have prepared steps for the Special Session. Usually after the inauguration is only a special session. We are still waiting for further information in the framework of this preparation,” he explained.
The Adi-Cipta couple, which was carried by PDIP, Democrats, the United Nations, Perindo, and Gelora Party, succeeded in winning the Badung 2024 Pilbup with 221,802 valid votes. The former Secretary of Badung and the former member of the Bali DPRD is just waiting for the inauguration to start their duties for the next five years.
