Warm chicken soup can be the right choice for consumption when experiencing flu and cough symptoms. One study found that the ingredients in chicken soup together could reduce inflammation and support the immune system to fight influenza infections.

In preparing soup, Lori Dor, RD, from Northwell Health in Long Island, New York recommends filling in soup with balanced protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates.

2. Garlic

Garlic has a long history in the world of medicine. For example in China and India, garlic is used to treat respiratory and digestive problems. In the Middle Ages, some people also consider garlic to be used as an arthritis and even chronic cough.

At present the same, consumption of garlic is believed to improve the function of immune cells and reduce the severity of flu symptoms. Garlic can be consumed raw or cooked first.
