In the list Salad Best in the World according to TasteAtlas, pecel, ketoprak and gado-gado beat a number of other delicious foods from various countries. Like Ohitashi from Japan to Caesar Salad from Mexico.
Pecel itself is in 16th place with a rating of 4.2. TasteAtlas explains that Indonesian Pecel refers to a fragrant peanut sauce or a combination of sauce and various vegetables so it is called a salad.
The basic ingredients for pecel sauce are made from roasted peanuts and spices. Where the ingredients used consist of chilies, palm sugar, garlic, tamarind water, shrimp paste, kaffir lime leaves, salt and galangal.

Meanwhile, ketoprak is in 27th place with a rating of 4.1. It is explained on the site that ketoprak is a traditional Indonesian street food dish which is often described as tofu salad.
Reporting from TasteAtlas, Thursday (9/5/2024), ketoprak is made with a combination of fried tofu, ketupat, vermicelli, bean sprouts, cabbage and cucumber. The combination is served with peanut sauce and sweet soy sauce.
Ketoprak is served with fried shallots and crackers. This dish can be found at many street vendors throughout Jakarta.
Although there is still debate about the origins of this dish, some claim that this type of salad was first made in Cirebon. This is because the majority of street vendors come from Cirebon.
