Caffeine in coffee can cause heart palpitations or what is called palpitations. However, there is a study that found the opposite fact. This is what researchers say!
The caffeine content in coffee can have various effects. If you drink too much, it can cause palpitations or heart palpitations that can cause anxiety.
That’s because caffeine will be absorbed into the bloodstream and reach the heart. Then, caffeine will stimulate the production of the adrenaline hormone which plays a role in increasing heart rate.
This condition often occurs in coffee drinkers. However, a study dispelled these fears with its findings which proved that coffee does not cause heart palpitations.

A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine analyzed more than 386,000 people over a 3-year period and compared heart rate levels.
Arrhythmia specialist and Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of California San Francisco, Dr Gregory Marcus, said that each additional cup of coffee consumed was associated with a 3% lower risk of experiencing heart palpitations.
According to their genetic analysis, researchers found no significant association between impaired coffee metabolism and the risk of palpitations.
2. Different views
According to Dr Marcus, the finding that coffee can cause heart palpitations emerged from older studies, including studies that focused entirely on male doctors.
“Now science has a different view. In fact, a review of 201 meta-analyses found that moderate coffee consumption is probably more beneficial than harmful to health,” he said.
He said that possible health benefits of caffeine and coffee in particular have emerged, such as reductions in cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and death.
