JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – There are several alternative fuels for cooking other than LPG. One of them is using a gas network (jargas) that already exists in various cities in Indonesia.
Through jargas, natural gas will be channeled to community households which are customers through the available pipeline networks. That way, cooking no longer needs to depend on the LPG tube.
Quoted from the website of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Tuesday (4/2/2025), jargas is one of the government programs whose benefits can be enjoyed directly by the public.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that besides being cheap, jargas is also cleaner, safer, efficient, and available 24 hours.
Until 2024, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) had built more than 815,000 jargas joints with a 20,000 km pipeline network.
“With jargas, people can switch to more efficient and stable energy. The program also supports the efficiency of government subsidies up to hundreds of billions of rupiah, “said PGN President Director Arief S, Handoko in a press statement in Jakarta, Monday (3/2/2025).

PGN has provided an online registration channel through the pgas.id page or PGN Mobile. That way interested people can directly visit 2 channels.
On the Gaskita registration page, prospective customers are directed to fill in the home address data to be installed.
After that, the contents of the use of energy and equipment. Starting from the use of electricity at home, the use of fuel for cooking in 1 month such as 3 kg LPG or 5.5 kg LPG, and type of gas equipment at home such as a 2 stove or 4 furnaces.

The next stage is to fill in your identity, namely the name, the population card number, the telephone number, the email, and upload a photo of the KTP with a maximum size of 4 MB.
When finished, PGN will check. The availability of gas pipelines around your location can be a priority consideration.
However, PGN will also build a new gas pipeline to locations that have a lot of enthusiasts for gas subscription.

To subscribe to Gaskita or Jargas, there is no registration fee. PGN will build a gas pipeline to the gas meter in front of the house.
Installation pipes (gas pipes in the house), will also be made and free of charge up to 15 meters. If an additional installation pipe is needed, there will be an additional fee of Rp. 75,000 per meter.
The cost of adding this installation pipe must be paid off before the gas drainage (gas in).

While for Gaskita non -residential customers (shops, restaurants or restaurants, small businesses, etc.), the cost of installing installation pipes is borne by prospective customers, PGN will build a gas pipeline only up to the gas meter in front of the business location.
While based on Gaskita brochure on the PGN website, there is a subscription guarantee fee of Rp 300,000 that must be paid by prospective customers.
While the gas price is Rp 10,000 per cubic meter with a volume of use of 4-50 cubic meters per month.
