Recipe for Fried Spring Rolls Filled with Cheese Baskets, a Practical Snack for Chinese New Year


KOMPAS.com – Chinese New Year celebrations are synonymous with the presence of basket cakes, chewy sweet cakes that symbolize good luck.

However, if you are bored with serving the same basket cakes, you can try making basket cake creations, for example processing them into fried spring rolls.

Just like making spring rolls, the basket cake is rolled as a filling. If you like, you can also add cheese to the filling.

Ingredients for fried spring rolls filled with cheese basket cakes:

  • 200 grams basket cake (cut lengthwise)
  • 20 spring roll skins
  • 200 grams cheddar cheese (cut into long pieces)
  • Enough water
  • Enough cooking oil (for frying)

How to make fried lupia filled with basket cake:

1. Take a piece of spring roll skin, fill it with one piece of basket cake and pieces of cheese, then roll it up and trim it until the filling is completely covered.

2. Repeat the same steps until the spring roll skin is used up, then fry the spring rolls in hot oil over low heat until brown. Remove and drain the spring rolls.
