Jakarta –
Eating in the car is often the choice of many people who don’t have time. However, it is best to avoid this eating habit, for this reason.
Most people choose to eat in the car because they don’t have time to eat at home or at a restaurant. Meanwhile, others are used to eating food or snacking in the car.
Reporting from DailyMailUK (15/01), apparently eating in the car is not as safe as it seems. Dr Shivram Singh, health expert from WINIT Clinic, advised people to stop eating in the car as it could increase the risk of food poisoning.
“Eating or storing food in the car can make the car area filled with crumbs and pieces of food. This can cause bacteria to settle and mold in the car if it is not cleaned thoroughly,” said Singh.

“These food crumbs can make the car a dirty place, not only for eating but also for cleanliness in the car,” he continued.
Singh further added that the driver or passengers in the car should eat in a place that is more comfortable, and more suitable for enjoying food.
If you are forced to eat in your car, Signh emphasized that people should not be lazy about cleaning their cars.
“The interior of the car can be very hot in summer, as well as in winter. With extreme temperatures in the car, this can have many health implications if you eat or store food in the car,” he said.

Not to mention the risk of bacterial growth such as Salmonella and Listeria due to the warm temperature of a closed car. These two bacteria are often found in cars.
To support this explanation, there have been several related studies.
Dr Gareth Nye, a doctor from the University of Chester also explained that in a car there can be 1,500 different bacteria.
“Starting from the driver’s seat, dashboard, steering wheel, everything carries a lot of bacteria. Most of the bacteria found in cars is E.Coli which can live in the human intestine. E.Coli is not very dangerous, but in some cases it can cause food poisoning,” explains Dr Nye.
Therefore health experts do not advise people to eat in the car. Apart from that, it is important for everyone to clean the inside of the car thoroughly on a regular basis, to avoid the growth of bacteria in the car.
