Recipe for Lapis Legit Spekuk, a cake that brings good luck during Chinese New Year


KOMPAS.com – Lapis legit is always present at Chinese New Year celebrations. Usually, this cake is used as a hamper for close relatives or used as the main snack when the holidays arrive.

Apart from its delicious taste, the meaning behind the many layers of this cake is also the reason why lapis legit is always loved every Chinese New Year.

Because, lapis legit is believed to bring luck and prosperity in layers to people who eat it.

This recipe for Lapis Legit Spek is taken from the book “Mrs. Favorite Recipe Liem: Lapis Legit” (2018) by Chendawati published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama:

Material I:

  • 850 gr (40 eggs) egg yolk
  • 350 gr powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla cream Mrs. Liam

Ingredients II, beat until fluffy:

  • 400 gr butter
  • 300 gr margarine
  • 4 tbsp sweet thick
  • 1 tsp seasoning
  • Egg yolk dye Mrs. Liem to taste

Ingredients III, mix and sift:

  • 70 gr low protein flour
  • 20 grams of powdered milk

How to make lapis legit specuk

1. Ingredient II: Beat butter and margarine until fluffy and white. Add sweetened condensed milk, specuk seasoning, and egg yolk coloring, beat until smooth. Set aside.

2. Beat ingredients I together until fluffy and thick. Add ingredient II while shaking until mixed well.

3. Add ingredient III to the egg and butter mixture while stirring gently with a spatula until evenly mixed.

4. Line a baking pan measuring 20 cm x 20 cm x 7 cm with baking paper. Pour one spoonful of vegetable mixture, spread evenly. Bake over low heat at 170 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes until cooked and golden brown. Remove, turn off the bottom fire and turn on the top fire.

5. Press the dough with a special tool, pour another spoonful of the mixture on top, spread it evenly. Bake again over high heat at 170 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes until cooked and golden brown. Do the same thing as before until the dough runs out.

6. Turn off the top fire, then turn the bottom fire back on. Bake again for 10 minutes until completely cooked. Remove and let cool. Cut into pieces and serve.
