Recipe for Spring Rolls Filled with Vegetables for Chinese New Year, Fried in an Air Fryer


KOMPAS.com – Before Chinese New Year, you can prepare typical snacks such as spring rolls filled with vegetables.

This stuffed spring roll is made with cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, cornstarch and then seasoned with honey, sesame oil, vegetable oil and dark soy sauce.

Material:

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 450 grams of vegetables (carrots, cabbage, bean sprouts and finely chopped peppers)
  • 8 spring roll skins for large size or 16 sheets for small size
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sweet spicy sauce for dipping

How to make vegetable filled spring rolls:

1. Mix one tablespoon of cornstarch with dark soy sauce until smooth, then add honey and sesame oil. Set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over high heat and stir-fry the various vegetables over high heat for 30 seconds before adding the sauce mixture.

Season with salt and pepper, and cook for another minute until the vegetables are slightly wilted but still crunchy.

Transfer the stir-fried vegetables and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.

2. Mix the remaining cornstarch with a tablespoon of water in a small bowl.

Arrange the spring roll skins then fill with stir-fried vegetables. Fold both sides then roll and coat with cornstarch. Repeat until finished.

Brush the wrapped spring rolls with vegetable oil.

3. Preheat the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius and cook the spring rolls for 12 minutes, turning them halfway to brush with more vegetable oil.

Cook and spread the oil in batches, don’t put too many spring rolls in the air fryer container.

Serve with sweet spicy sauce.
