This burger is called ‘The Golden Boy’. This hefty price tag is also matched by the high-quality ingredients, in addition to the gold and caviar that Jan Veen uses.

Jan Veen was racking his brain, what kind of food could be special and that visitors could enjoy without having to sit in the restaurant. One night, while he was at his restaurant, Jan Veen came across a post on Facebook about an expensive burger.
The burger was expensive because it was too big. Jan Veen also wanted to create an expensive burger with a standard size, but still very special. He also challenged himself to create this special burger.
Jan Veen makes the recipe from scratch. He was interested in developing a burger that was not only expensive, but also rich in flavor and delicious.
The buns for the burgers he creates are made from Dom Perignon champagne and lightly toasted to keep them soft on the inside. He then covered the bread with gold leaf.

The burger is made from wagyu beef juicy and garnished with king crab and caviar. Plus onion rings drizzled with champagne.
This burger, which costs almost IDR 100 million, has a sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami taste. This means that this burger has all the flavors, savory and delicious in every bite.
“It’s easy to just take some very expensive ingredients and put them on a burger. But, for me the most important thing is that the burger still tastes good,” says Jan Veen.
Jan Veen admitted that he wanted to see how far he could develop his burger with these ingredients. But, he also wants his burgers to still taste good. Customers can be satisfied not only because of the appearance, but also their taste buds.
“The second big challenge was sourcing the ingredients. For example, some of the ingredients in the burgers are not usually available in the Netherlands. But I got great help from my suppliers,” he said.
Jan Veen says his friends, family and staff are supportive of making a big effort when it comes to his burgers. Meanwhile, when the burger was launched for the first time, the reaction from visitors was really good.
Jan Veen uses this burger not only to realize his dream of becoming a record holder and being listed in the Guinness World Records, but also to raise awareness of poverty in the Netherlands.
Proceeds from sales of his first burger were donated to a local food bank. The funds were used to make a thousand basic food packages for families in need.
