KOMPAS.com – High cholesterol levels are caused by excessive fat consumption. The origin of fat comes from various types of meat, as well as dairy products, such as cheese, and butter which is usually used to make various cakes.
If you already eat a lot of cakes and high-fat meat, you should start limiting your consumption of these foods to reduce cholesterol levels. Because high cholesterol can trigger obesity, high blood pressure and the risk of heart disease.
Apart from avoiding consumption of meat and milk, you can increase your consumption of cholesterol-lowering fruits. One of them is pineapple.
This fruit with a sweet and sour taste contains the enzyme bromelain which can help reduce cholesterol and inflammation, as quoted The Health Site.
Pineapples can also help improve digestion and keep the heart healthy.
You can use pineapple to make refreshing Aceh salad. Plus pieces of other fruit, such as mango, carrots and coconut, which are no less nutritious.
Check out the Aceh rujak recipe for five portions from the book “100 Delicious Dish Recipes to Lower Cholesterol” (2009) by Tuti Soenardi published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama below.
