The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Tunisia, Zuhairi Misrawi, said that the response from Tunisian citizens and coffee distributors was very enthusiastic about the promotion of Indonesian coffee. He said that Indonesia is known as one of the coffee paradises in the world.

“We see that Tunisian people have knowledge and recognition of Indonesian coffee. In fact, Indonesia is known as one of the ‘coffee paradises’ in the world. Luwak coffee has been made an icon by the exhibition organizers as the most delicious and most expensive coffee in the world,” said Zuhairi in his statement.

“Because of this, in the last two years, the Indonesian Embassy in Tunis has been very active in introducing Indonesian coffee. It is hoped that coffee exports to Tunisia will reopen, because in the early 2000s, Indonesia exported coffee to Tunisia,” he continued.

This PDI Perjuangan cadre also said that coffee could be used as infrastructure and a diplomatic bridge to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

“We see that the momentum and opportunities for exporting coffee to Tunisia are getting wider, both in the form of coffee beans and other coffee packaging products. The culture of Tunisian citizens is the culture of drinking coffee while chatting in coffee shops. Therefore, exporting coffee to Tunisia will further strengthen relations between the two “However, there must be strategic efforts to facilitate coffee export procedures to Tunisia,” he said.
