- Banana leaves to taste
Chilli sauce
- 1 clove of garlic
- 5 large red chilies
- 1 tomato
- 1 fried shrimp paste
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
Fresh vegetables
- Boiled mustard greens
- Boiled cassava leaves
- Boiled bean sprouts
- Sliced cucumber
Complementary
- Fried tofu
- Fried tempe
- Fried salted fish
How to make Banyuwangi tempong rice
- Fry garlic, red chilies, tomatoes and shrimp paste until cooked.
- Grind the fried ingredients with salt and granulated sugar until smooth. Set aside.
- Place the banana leaves on a plate, then fill with 1 portion of warm rice.
- Add fresh vegetables such as mustard greens, cassava leaves, bean sprouts and cucumber around the rice.
- Complete with spicy chili sauce and side dishes such as fried tofu, fried tempeh and fried salted fish.
