Some people in several countries live long lives, even exceeding 100 years. In the United States, around 0.03 percent of its population is 100 years old, according to analysis from the Pew Research Center.

1. Eat fresh food

Those who are 100 years old reveal that the food they consume is usually fresh. They also limit their consumption of red meat, as done by Deborah Szekely (102) who has undergone a pescatarian diet (vegetarian and seafood diet).

Pearl Taylor (102), who lives in Dayton, Ohio, also said that she regularly eats vegetarian food and only eats meat occasionally. He also regularly consumes green juice made from aloe vera, celery, parsley, ginger and water with added Splenda (zero calorie sweetener).

The second oldest person in New York, Louise Jean Signore (112 years old) is also known to follow a Mediterranean diet. The diet is rich in whole foods, such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, and olive oil.

2. Cook at home

Long life can also be achieved by cooking the food consumed at home. So, don’t buy food outside the home which usually contains a lot of fat and the nutritional content is unclear.

101 year old grandfather William from Toronto, Canada revealed that he prefers to cook at home. He often cooks sardines which are the secret to his long life.

Jack Van Nordheim (101) is also known to not like fast food. He prefers home-cooked food, such as boiled chicken.

It is known that consuming home-cooked food means people eat less processed food. These processed foods have been linked to many health problems, such as depression, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
