As a result, the pituitary gland near the brain will release hormones that cause the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline. However, it is not recommended to drink coffee in the afternoon.

That’s because caffeine has an active time of about six hours. If you drink it in the afternoon close to bedtime, it can disrupt sleep patterns.

One reason is because the caffeine in coffee causes the body to increase dopamine levels in the brain. Dopamine is a chemical compound that makes a person feel happy.
