Christmas is here, these 5 iconic cakes are your favorite snacks

Christmas celebrations are always a very lively celebration at the end of the year. This celebration is synonymous with a variety of appetizing foods.

Here are several types of iconic cakes that are usually served during Christmas celebrations:

1. Ginger Cookies

One of the cookies served at Christmas is ginger cookies. This cake uses a mixture of ginger.

There is also the addition of palm sugar, honey, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. This cake has a unique shape, like a smiling child.

At the end of the 16th century, ginger cookies were made in the form of houses, which is a tradition in Germany to this day.

2. Kastengel

Kastengel is a dry cake made from wheat flour, margarine and grated cheese. These cookies are rectangular in shape, about 3-4 cm high and 1 cm wide. Not only served during Christmas celebrations, this cake is also served at Eid Al-Fitr, Chinese New Year and other major holidays in Indonesia.

3. Speculaas

It is a dry cake that originates from the Netherlands and is often served during Christmas celebrations. Apart from that, these cookies have very diverse shapes and have a fragrant aroma due to a mixture of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and also white pepper.

With a cake that is not too sweet, many people like it. Although this cake originates from the Netherlands, it is also famous in Germany and other countries in Europe.

4. Vanillekipferl

Apart from being known by its name, vanillekipferl, this cake is also known as Snow White Cake. This cake is made from a mixture of flour and almond or hazelnut powder.

When it has been baked until cooked, the cake is sprinkled with powdered sugar. It tastes savory and sweet because of the combination of nuts and refined sugar.

5. Pineapple cake

One of the cakes that is most popular with people and is a must have during celebrations, especially Christmas, is Nastar.

Nastar is a dry cake made from a mixture of wheat flour, butter and eggs filled with pineapple jam, chocolate and other fillings. This cake is round in shape with a diameter of around 2 cm.
