When you buy fresh eggs at the market, you don’t need to wash them before storing them.

Fresh eggs have a protective protein layer called the cuticle around the egg shell. This layer functions to prevent bacteria from entering the egg.

If you wash eggs, this protective layer is removed, making the eggs more susceptible to bacterial contamination.

Therefore, it is better to store eggs directly at room temperature without washing them. If you still want to wash your eggs, do it when you are preparing them, not before storing them.

How to clean eggs that are stained with dirt

4. Store eggs in the refrigerator

Place the eggs in a closed container to maintain humidity and prevent the eggs from absorbing odors from other foods in the refrigerator. Cold temperatures in the refrigerator can also reduce the risk of salmonella bacteria growing.

5. Use mineral oil to preserve eggs

Mineral oil or paraffin oil can help keep the eggs moist. Spray this oil on the eggs before storing them. This way, the eggs will last longer and stay fresh.
