JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Three Indomie variants were withdrawn from Australia after the announcement was made by the Australia-New Zealand Food Standards Agency (FSANZ), Food Square Pty Ltd, and Grand Eastern Trading on Thursday (12/12/2024).
The withdrawal of Indomie products from Australia is not just one, but three variants. The three types of Indomie that were withdrawn from Australia are Indomie Rasa Soto Mie, Ayam Bawang, and Rasa Rendang.
So why was Indomie withdrawn from Australia? The withdrawal of Indomie from Australia was due to the absence of allergen labels on the marketing of the three Indomie variants. Allergens are food ingredients or compounds that cause allergies and/or intolerance.

In this case, Indomie Rasa Soto Mie and Indomie Rasa Rendang do not list an allergen to milk, while Indomie Ayam Bawang does not list an allergen to eggs.
The FSANZ website explains that food businesses are required to meet new allergen labeling requirements in English, on how to declare certain foods known to be common allergens.
Foods that are allergens include milk, eggs, wheat, fish and nuts. The withdrawal of the three variants follows Indomie Goreng Aceh also experiencing the same thing on December 5 2024.

Indomie is not the first
Based on the announcement on the FSANZ website, it turns out that Indonesian products that have “stumbled” on allergen labeling in Australia are not just Indomie.
The Indonesian products recorded are Mie Sedap, ABC Soy Sauce, Bango Soy Sauce, and Sweet Condensed Soy Sauce Goose Liver.
Here’s the complete list:
1. Delicious Noodles with Meatball Flavor
FSANZ together with Grand Eastern Group withdrew the distribution of Mie Sedap Rasa Bakso on September 12 2024. The products being withdrawn are products with an expiry date of October 28 2024.
The reason Mie Sedap Rasa Bakso was withdrawn from Australia was because the product did not include a milk allergen label.
2. ABC Sweet Soy Sauce and ABC Salty Soy Sauce
FSANZ together with Trans Oriental Import & Export withdrew the distribution of ABC Sweet Soy Sauce and ABC Soy Sauce on October 11 2024. The products being withdrawn are products with expiry dates of March 12 2025 and November 27 2026.
The reason ABC Sweet Soy Sauce was withdrawn from Australia was because the product did not include an allergen label for gluten, soybeans, sulfites and wheat.
