Chicken Katsu Recipe, Lunch Menu Ideas


KOMPAS.com – Chicken katsu could be a lunch menu option. You can eat it with sliced ​​cabbage and carrot slices, cucumber slices, or chili sauce on top.

If you like it spicy, add chili powder to the coating mixture. On the other hand, if you like it savory, add powdered cheese to the coating mixture.

This recipe uses fillets chicken breast meat. If you don’t have one, you can use it fillets chicken upper thigh meat because it is wide and soft is said to be the same.

Material:

  • 4 pairs (approx. 1,000 grams) fillets chicken breast or fillets chicken upper thigh meat
  • 3 tablespoons Japanese soy sauce (shoyu)
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 centimeters grated ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 200 grams coarse white bread flour
  • Sufficient cooking oil

Dry coating ingredients:

  • 100 grams of wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons stock powder

Wet coating materials:

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons liquid milk

How to make chicken katsu

  1. Split each pair of chicken breasts into two parts. Thus, in total, there are eight pieces fillets chicken breast meat.
  2. Coat the chicken breast meat with Japanese soy sauce, pepper, ginger, garlic until evenly coated. Place in the refrigerator for about an hour until the flavors blend.
  3. Dry coating material. Combine flour and stock powder, stir until smooth.
  4. Wet coating material. Mix eggs and liquid milk, beat until smooth.
  5. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator, dry it from the marinade. Turn the chicken pieces into the dry coating, then put them into the wet coating, then turn them into the breadcrumbs. Do this until all the chicken pieces are finished.
  6. Pour cooking oil into a frying pan to heat. Fry the soaked chicken until golden brown and cooked, then remove, drain and let sit until cool.
  7. Save chicken katsu into a container, store it freezer until it freezes. If you want to eat it, fry it again chicken katsu.
