Dizzy when you wake up in the morning after a feast of processed beef, tongseng and satay, a sign of high cholesterol?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Eid al-Adha is synonymous with delicious processed beef and mutton, such as satay and tongseng. However, for some people, the morning after the sacrificial meat feast can be a nightmare.

Waking up with a headache is not fun. Not a few believe that this is a sign of high cholesterol.

Red meat, especially the fatty part, contains high cholesterol. Cholesterol is a fatty substance that is important for the body, but if it is excessive it can accumulate in the arteries, as quoted from the site American Heart Association on Tuesday, June 18 2024.

This buildup triggers atherosclerosis, a condition that narrows blood vessels and blocks flow to the brain.

Dizziness can be a symptom of high cholesterol. When blood flow to the brain is disrupted, the brain is deprived of oxygen and nutrients. This can trigger dizziness and even fainting in severe cases.

However, feeling dizzy when you wake up and eating satay or tongseng the night before is not always high cholesterol.

“Of course, eating sacrificial meat cannot be directly linked to cholesterol. To find out, you have to check the levels in the laboratory,” said the former Director General of Disease Control and former Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, to Health Liputan6.com via short messaging application.

He further explained that the causes of dizziness when waking up can vary. “It could also be that you don’t have any pain but are due to lack of sleep or nightmares,” he said.
