Klappertaart Recipe, Typical Christmas Snack in Manado

Material klappertaart:

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons wheat flour
  • 350 milliliters of liquid milk
  • 150 milliliters heavy cream
  • 100 grams of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon rum (optional)
  • 300 grams of dredged young coconut meat
  • 50 grams sliced ​​roasted walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons raisins (for sprinkling)

How to make klappertaart:

1. Prepare 12 bowls with a volume of 150 milliliters then set them aside. Meanwhile, beat the eggs in a bowl, don’t let them foam, then set aside.

2. Dissolve the flour in 50 milliliters of milk, then set aside. Meanwhile, boil the remaining liquid milk with heavy cream and granulated sugar in a saucepan until hot and the sugar has dissolved, no need to boil.

3. Mix a little milk into the flour solution, then stir until there are no lumps. After that, pour the solution mixed with flour into the milk pan, then cook while stirring until the mixture thickens.

4. Remove and let the mixture cool slightly, then add a few tablespoons of the mixture into the beaten egg, then beat until evenly mixed. After that, pour the egg mixture back into the large dough.

5. Strain the mixture so there are no lumps, then add the vanilla extract, rum, young coconut and toasted walnuts. Pour the mixture into 12 prepared bowls, then top with the raisins.

6. Prepare a roasting pan, then put boiled hot water into the pan. Place the bowl containing the dough on a baking sheet that has been covered with hot water, then bake the dough in the oven for about 20 minutes, then remove and serve.
