Apart from fruit and vegetables, pork fat is included in the list of the 100 most nutritious foods. So, what made him enter the list?
Talking about nutritious food, many people will immediately focus on vegetables and fruit. Eating these foods really supports body health. However, there are actually other sources of nutrition that can also be relied on. This food is pork fat.
Quoting the Times of India, a scientific study entitled ‘Uncovering the Nutritional Landscape of Food’ published in the PLOS ONE journal ranked pork fat in eighth place on the list of the 10 healthiest foods in the world.
Not only that, BBC Future displays a list of the 100 most nutritious foods calculated and ranked by scientists. They studied more than 1,000 foods and gave them nutritional scores. Of course this score is based on a lot of thought and consideration.
In the BBC Future list, lard also came in at 73rd position out of 100.

Pork fat is fat with a dense and smooth texture, taken from the fatty tissue of the stomach, loins and around the kidneys of pigs.
Refined lard or often referred to as ‘lard’ is sometimes used as a fat in cooking. Because the taste is distinctive and the nutritional value is also good.
Lard is made by rendering (the process of refining fat), taken from pork fat tissue that is steamed, boiled, or heated until dry.
Steaming or boiling makes the fat taste more neutral, the color brighter, and makes it harder to smoke when heated. Meanwhile, dried lard has a taste similar to caramel.
Lard is also usually sold in solid block form similar to margarine. Usually used for sautéing, frying, and as a substitute for butter in cakes.

Pork fat or lard is classified as a healthy fat.
100 grams of pork fat contains 632 kcal and is a source of B vitamins and minerals which are good for body health.
This fat is also said to be better than lamb fat. Contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and contains 48% monounsaturated fat.
