SURABAYA – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamenparekraf) Angela Tanoesoedibjo confident that Indonesian culinary products can rise to the next level. He is also optimistic that the culinary industry will progress and become known globally.

Angela, who is also Deputy Chairperson of the Perindo Party, believes in industrial development Indonesian culinary not without reason. The reason is, this is supported by the FoodStartup Indonesia program developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).

FoodStartup Indonesia, said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela, who is a member of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, is the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s flagship program. It is hoped that this program can make the Indonesian culinary industry more advanced.

“So we need to really think about making the ecosystem even more mature,” said Angela at the Unleashing F&B Potential Contest Roadshow at Artotel TS Suites, Surabaya, Monday (20/5/2024).

Angela explained that culinary is a very popular sub-sector of the creative economy. Not only by MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) themselves but also tourists.

“We can not only succeed domestically but on the global stage. That is our hope,” he explained.

More than 500 MSME players have benefited from FoodStartup Indonesia, which has been around since 2016. This program provides a series of training and mentoring, networking, business negotiations, and financing.

“For FoodStartup Indonesia’s target in 2024, we can fund around USD 16.5 million (Rp. 263 billion),” he said.
