Fried Rice Trader in Serang Becomes Drug Courier, Dozens of Shabu Packages Stored in Motorcycle Seats and Plate Rack

SuaraBanten.id – Two methamphetamine drug couriers with the initials RL (17) and AS (20) were arrested by the Serang Police Narcotics Unit. Together with his partner, RL, who previously worked as a fried rice trader, became a methamphetamine courier.

Serang Police Chief AKBP Condro Sasongko said that RL, who previously worked as a fried rice trader, was now determined to become a methamphetamine drug courier.

Unfortunately, not even a month after he had been carrying out the illicit goods business, RL and his partner AS were arrested by the Serang Police not far from their house in Cipare Village, Serang District, Serang City, Banten.

“From inside suspect RL’s house, officers succeeded in confiscating 20 packages of methamphetamine, including one package from the motorbike box belonging to AS and 19 other packages of methamphetamine found on the plate rack,” he said.

The two drug couriers were arrested thanks to follow-up and information from the public. Residents who were suspicious because RL was no longer selling fried rice but still often went out at night reported it to the police.

“People are suspicious because they no longer sell fried rice, but RL often goes out at night and comes home early in the morning with friends the residents don’t know,” he said.

Based on the resident’s report, Narcotics Unit personnel led by Inspector Rian Jaya Surana then moved to deepen the information.

“At around 01.30, the suspect who was riding with AS using a Honda Vario was ambushed when he was going home not far from suspect RL’s house. From inside the motorbike box, a package of suspected crystal methamphetamine was found,” he said.

The search then continued at suspect RL’s house and 19 other packages were found hidden on a plate rack.

Apart from that, digital scales and a number of other items related to the distribution of methamphetamine were also confiscated.

“Suspects RL and AS were then taken to Serang Police Headquarters for examination,” he said, quoted by ANTARA.

From the results of the examination, the suspect admitted to distributing drugs with AS who worked as an ojol. RL said this business had only been running for a month due to economic needs.

“The role of RL and AS was to place the crystal methamphetamine package at a location determined by DW (DPO), whose residence was unknown. Of the 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine that were successfully sent, the two suspects received a salary of IDR 3 million,” he said.

For their actions, suspects RL and AS were charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. (BETWEEN)
