Foodies are being shocked by the story of stale jastip sushi which has gone viral on social media. It started with the owner of the TikTok account @lilykenzie who bought a sushi brand from Bali called Philadelphia Sushi via a consignment service (jastip).

When she opened the sushi packaging, Lily saw that the sushi was in a mess. He also said the smell was unpleasant, plus the taste made him nauseous.

Lily explained the sushi process, including the time span from purchase, delivery, to receiving and consuming the sushi. The story received attention from netizens. Some said his decision to jastip sushi was strange because sushi is best eaten fresh.

Indeed, not all food is suitable to be used as a jastip item. Because some food ingredients are known to easily spoil their quality when not handled properly.

If you go through a fastening process that is uncertain in terms of time, then there is a big possibility that the menu containing the food ingredients will become stale. It smells bad, tastes bad, and even consuming it can be dangerous to your health.

1. Raw fish

Food made from fresh fish, such as sushi, has a relatively short shelf life compared to other types of meat because the bacteria in fish are used to living in relatively cold water. Therefore, food made from fresh fish can quickly become filled with bacteria that multiply if it is not stored at the right temperature.

The situation is different from chicken or beef, which if it contains bacteria, will be fine even if stored at warmer temperatures. As a result, the risk of food poisoning for those who consume fresh fish will increase if it is not handled properly, as revealed by the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA).

2. Cooked rice

For those who want the jastip menu to contain cooked rice, you should think again. Because cooked rice contains B. Cereus bacteria which contain spores which are very heat resistant, they can even survive after being cooked.

If left at room temperature, these bacteria can multiply and cause food poisoning known as fried rice syndrome. For durability, cooked rice can last 3-4 days in the refrigerator, but it is important to reheat it thoroughly before consuming.

3. Cut fruit and vegetables

Now many fruits and vegetables are sold already cut into pieces. In terms of practicality, this product really helps. But not in terms of freshness. Because when fruit and vegetables no longer have skin, it means their quality decreases more quickly.
