Ginger tea and green tea are known for their properties which can support and maintain the body’s immunity. However, between the two, which is better?

Body immunity is the body’s ability to fight bacteria and viruses that cause disease. If the body’s immune system is weakened, a person becomes susceptible to disease.

Therefore, the body’s immune system must always be maintained. There are various ways to achieve this goal, including adopting a healthy lifestyle and consuming nutritious foods.

Tea is known to be able to increase and maintain the body’s immunity because it contains antioxidants in the form of polyphenols which reduce inflammation in the body. This antioxidant is also the main key in maintaining the body’s immunity.

The vitamin content and various compounds, such as anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial compounds in tea, are also able to support the performance of the body’s immune system and increase immunity.

Among the many types of tea, there are two types that are known to be the most effective, namely ginger tea and green tea.

Even so, many people are curious about whether green tea or ginger tea is more effective in maintaining the body’s immunity. The following is the explanation as reported by the Times of India (05/12/2024).

Ginger tea, made from boiled water from fresh ginger, contains bioactive compounds, such as gingerol and shogaol, which are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

The antioxidant properties of ginger can reduce inflammation in the body and are important for maintaining the immune system to function properly. The reason is, chronic inflammation can weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to bacterial or viral infections.

The antioxidants in ginger tea are also able to neutralize the body from exposure to free radicals, reduce oxidative stress, and protect cells from damage.

3. The right time to drink ginger tea

Ginger tea is suitable for consumption when you start experiencing flu and cough symptoms, such as a sore throat or digestive problems.

Ginger tea can also be drunk in the morning to improve the body’s immune system. You can also drink it regularly before bed because it can improve sleep quality and strengthen the immune system.
