The voter participation rate in the 2024 Dompu Regent Election (Pilbup) reached 86.44 percent. This figure is down from voter participation in the 2020 Dompu Pilbup which reached 93.35 percent.

“In percentage terms, our level of community participation has indeed decreased,” said the Dompu KPU’s Division of Socialization, Voter Education and Community Participation and Human Resources, Yusuf, to detikBaliFriday (6/12/2024).

Yusuf said that the number of residents included in the permanent voter list (DPT) in the 2024 Dompu Pilbup reached 190,546 votes. Of this number, only 164,623 voters came to the polling station (TPS) to exercise their right to vote on voting day.

According to Yusuf, there are several factors that have caused the decline in the level of public participation in the 2024 regional elections. Among them, voters died when they were designated as DPT. Furthermore, there were residents who changed their domicile address, moved to vote, voters were not recognized in the DPT, and voters were not present when the Form C Voting Notification was distributed.

Even so, he said, the voter participation rate in Dompu was the highest in NTB. He claimed that voter participation in Dompu had exceeded the national target set by the Indonesian KPU of 85 percent.
