Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Nahdhatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board reminded the public not to carry out boycotts targeting local public companies whose shares are majority owned by Indonesians.
“On social media recently, a number of parties have been actively campaigning for a boycott of the company’s products go public only because a small portion of the shares are owned by certain foreign investors. “This is not appropriate,” said PBNU’s Head of Economic Empowerment, Dr. KH. Eman Suryaman in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday.
In a public discussion entitled “Palestinian Month & Socialization of the MUI Fatwa” which was held in Cirebon, West Java, Saturday (30/11), Eman assessed that the public needs to prioritize products produced by public companies owned by Indonesian citizens rather than foreign products that are pro-Israel.

The goal is so that the national economy can continue to develop and no money will run out.
Moreover, public companies have many benefits for both the national economy and society in general and have greater access to capital from investors.
These funds can be used for expansion, creating new jobs and increasing production, which ultimately drives national economic growth.

“The MUI Ulema Council regarding prioritization of the use of domestic products has also clearly regulated the criteria for national companies whose products need to be prioritized, namely companies that use domestic raw materials, the company’s shares are not owned by foreigners in the majority and use national workers at the top managerial level,” said he.
On the other hand, Muslims need to remain united in boycotting the products of pro-Israel foreign multinational companies as a form of support for Palestine and at the same time protesting the foreign policies of Western countries that support Israel.
“The boycott of pro-Israel products that has been widespread in various countries in the last year or so, including Indonesia, needs to be continued in order to have a deterrent effect on Israel and its supporting countries,” he said.

MUI Deputy Secretary General for Legal Affairs Dr. KH Ikhsan Abdullah added that boycotting pro-Israel products is a form of support for Muslims for the Palestinian people.
“Our presence here is to show our support for the movement of the Palestinian people to be free from Israeli colonialism. How to? “The way to do this is by boycotting,” he said.
One of the Mer-C volunteers in Gaza, Farid Zanjabil Al Ayubi, informed that currently there have been more than 46,000 martyrs in the Gaza Strip and nearly 120 thousand people have been injured.
“The Gaza Strip has a population of 2.5 million people, now almost all of them have fled. “Women and children are the biggest victims, as much as 70 percent,” he said.
