Jakarta –
Snoring is caused by blocked or narrowed respiratory tract. To reduce this, cheese is said to be good for consumption to treat snoring.
Snoring often occurs during sleep, in fact it is commonly experienced by 3 percent of children and 32 percent of adults. According to the Mayo Clinic, snoring can be a chronic problem and may indicate a serious health problem.
Several ways can overcome snoring. The Mayo Clinic recommends lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, avoiding alcohol consumption, or sleeping on your side.
Reporting from The Sun (2/12), there is another way to reduce snoring by eating food. The type of food in question is cheese.
It was stated that people who regularly consumed dairy products, including cheese, were found to have a 28 percent lower risk of developing sleep apnea (throat closing) which causes severe snoring.

This was conveyed in the journal ‘Sleep Medicine’. Researchers say they have linked higher cheese consumption to a lower likelihood of sleep apnea.
In fact, snorers have previously been advised to avoid consuming dairy products before bed. Because, it is believed to worsen the problem of snoring by increasing mucus production and blocking the airways.
However, research on 400,000 British people by experts from Chengdu University, China actually found 20 ways to consume cheese. Including types of gorgonzola, cheddar, camembert or manchego cheese which can reduce the risk of sleep apnea associated with snoring. Including increasing testosterone levels and reducing high blood pressure.
Meanwhile, there is another study which reveals that people who have a healthy diet by consuming lots of vegetables are known to be less likely to experience sleep apnea. Dr. Yohannes Melaku from Flinders University said, “It could be that a healthy plant-based diet reduces inflammation and obesity (major factors in sleep apnea risk).”
Therefore, maintaining a quality diet is important in managing the risk of obstructive sleep apnea.
