Jakarta – Drinking coffee has now become a lifestyle for many people in the world. Indonesia is famous for its unique coffee. But are coffee farmers prosperous?
Indonesia is indeed famous for its coffee. However, this term is only known sporadically or partially.
Not all coffee farmers are prosperous. Some coffee farmers who already know the ways and processes of cultivating coffee in a better way can definitely have a better life.

“The obstacle is low productivity. Improper harvesting methods and obstacles in coffee plantations such as difficult transportation can indeed reduce the quality of coffee,” explained Syarifuddin, Chair of the Indonesian Specialty Coffee Association (SCAI) to detikFood some time ago.

According to Syarifuddin, in order for farmers to be more prosperous, cultivation processes must be improved. Post-harvest processes such as picking and peeling coffee beans can produce good grain. “If the quality is good, demand for coffee from within and outside the country will be sustainable,” added Syarifuddin.
Syarifuddin always invites farmers to produce good coffee, protect the land so that it develops better and maintain communication. “Communication is one of the obstacles for many farmers. Good communication between farmers and buyers and knowing how to produce and manage coffee. This could be an added value for farmers,” he concluded.

“By holding the “Sumatra Prestige Cup 2019” and the COE “Cup of Excellent”, Indonesian coffee will become increasingly famous and its quality will increase,” added Syarifuddin.
Arabica coffee from Gayo and Lintong is one type of coffee that is popular with foreign consumers. Apart from being harvested twice a year, the taste is also unique so it has many fans.
