Jakarta –
After eating, ideally people feel energized, but quite a few people actually feel tired. Don’t underestimate it, this condition describes a health condition. Identify 7 things that might be the cause.
Many people feel tired, have no energy and even sleepy after eating food. This is more likely to happen when someone eats a lot in a short time, such as when attending a party or banquet.
In fact, eating should actually give someone energy, not the other way around. Therefore, when you feel negative things after eating, you need to be aware of what is happening. This can be influenced by the type and portion of food consumed.
Quote Livestrong (24/11), gastroenterologist Ashkan Farhadi revealed the reasons that might be causing you to feel tired after Eat. Here are the 7 lists:
1. The body is digesting food
“When you digest food, the digestive tract experiences an increase in blood supply,” says Dr. Farhadi. This can reduce blood supply to the brain, causing drowsiness.
Dr. Farhadi said this is normal and can actually make you more relaxed, not tired. “Serotonin release occurs when you digest food, and the gut is one of the main producers of that serotonin,” says Dr. Farhadi. This creates a relaxing effect on the body that makes you feel calm after eating.
2. Eating too much protein and carbohydrates

Eating a lot can trigger drowsiness and fatigue, especially if the type consumed is protein and carbohydrates. The digestive system will find it difficult to digest the food.
In response, the body produces hormones that trigger sleepiness, according to the Cleveland Clinic. This condition will get worse when you eat a lot of processed foods with little nutrition.
To avoid this, adjust your food portions. Consume smaller portions, but often. Focus on consuming complex carbohydrates, nuts, and non-starchy vegetables.
3. Have diabetes
Feeling very tired after eating could be a sign that you have a certain disease, such as diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, extreme fatigue is one of the common signs of type 2 diabetes.
This sign is also accompanied by constant urination, thirst, and weight loss. If you experience this condition, Dr Farhadi recommends an immediate blood test to find out for sure whether you have diabetes or not. If so, the sooner it is handled, the better.
4. Suffering from celiac disease

Celiac disease or celiac disease is the body’s immune reaction to consuming foods containing gluten. If you have celiac disease, consuming gluten can damage the lining of your small intestine and prevent it from absorbing important nutrients over time, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Celiac disease also causes a variety of symptoms. One of the common ones is fatigue. To overcome this, immediately carry out blood tests and other procedures to get more appropriate treatment.
