Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
One of the topics raised in the second debate in the 2024 West Java Governor Election (West Java gubernatorial election) which was held on Saturday (16/11) evening was tourist.
During the debate, the four candidate pairs, namely Acep Adang Ruhiat-Gitalis Dwi Natarina, Jeje Wiradinata-Ronal Surapradja, Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie, and Dedi Mulyadi-Erwan Setiawan all proposed culinary issues that should be a tourist destination when visiting Java. West.
The four candidate pairs admitted that so far, culinary delights have not been a tourist destination. They also competed on ideas about how iconic culinary delights typical of each region in West Java could become a destination and attract tourists to the West Java area.
Acep Adang expressed his ideas about more intensive promotion and intellectual property rights that must be strengthened. So, culinary festivals, and the construction of a West Java culinary center are strategies that he will carry out to advance local culinary delights.
“When we talk about local culinary delights, of course we will talk about quality. Of course when we talk about quality, whether in packaging or other forms, people are interested in local culinary delights,” said Acep.
Jeje Wiradinata then responded to his idea. According to the former Pangandaran regent, instead of improving the packaging, culinary mapping of each region should be done first.
“There must be connectivity for souvenirs and so on. For example, Garut produces, Pangandaran markets,” he said.
Meanwhile, Syaikhu actually said that strategies and assistance for culinary actors must be carried out. Moreover, if you look at it from all sides, West Javanese culinary is actually extraordinary.
“Providing educational assistance for West Java tourism. Complete facilities and infrastructure. So that culinary skills can improve existing quality, the provincial government helps in the form of tourism promotion,” he said.
On the other hand, Dedi Mulyadi actually summarized all the ideas from the candidate pairs. According to him, not just one, but several treatments are needed if culinary delights want to become a tourist destination in West Java.
“The government has no doubts in any forum or even the world. In the end it becomes a brand, which when it enters a brand, in the human subconscious, people will want that food,” said Dedi.
