Jakarta (ANTARA) – Joint officers prepare thousands of portions of food every day for survivors of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi who have taken refuge at the Lewolaga Field Post (Poslap), East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The Tagana public kitchen in Poslap Lewolaga is working hard to meet the food needs, not only for the victims affected by the eruption, but also for volunteers and joint forces on duty.
“For today (Monday (25/11), the number of people eating breakfast is 418 people, there are 432 people eating lunch. For dinner, the data will only be known after dinner is finished,” said the Coordinator of the Tagana Public Kitchen at the Lewolaga Field Post, Abdula Syukur Sunte in a press release, Tuesday.
According to Abdula, breakfast is available until 09.00 WITA, lunch at 13.00 WITA, and dinner is available until 21.00 WITA.

Every day, more than 1,000 portions of food are prepared to meet the food needs of survivors spread across the refugee camps, both those who evacuate independently and those in centralized refugee camps.
The food menu provided for survivors also varies according to the rules for fulfilling daily nutrition, including rice, vegetables, eggs, fish and fruit. Public kitchen staff cook rice using a wood stove, while for side dishes and vegetables, they use a gas stove.
“For the kitchen staff, we have 10 people from Tagana, Lembata Regency, three people from KSB, plus TNI/Polri and volunteers. There are approximately 30 people on duty in this public kitchen,” said Abdula Syukur.

Regarding the food distribution mechanism, Abdula explained that the village office would notify survivors that the food was ready to be collected.
The refugees then went to the public kitchen to get their food. At first, food was distributed in packages, but now, for the convenience of survivors, food is served in containers.
Abdula Syukur hopes that the situation will recover quickly and that post-disaster recovery can be implemented immediately, so that the affected people can return to living normal lives.
