Carbohydrates are needed by the body as a source of energy that can be used throughout the day. Carbohydrates themselves are macronutrients that can increase blood glucose levels either quickly or slowly, depending on the source.

Foods such as rice, wheat, bread, vegetables, fruit, are sources of carbohydrates. Each of them will be converted into glucose in the body. But some of these carbohydrates will increase glucose more quickly.

If you still want to consume carbohydrates, make sure you consume them in limited quantities. Excess carbohydrates can certainly affect insulin levels, especially when someone doesn’t move much.

2. Stress can trigger blood glucose

Not only food, but disorders such as stress are also the main triggers for insulin resistance and diabetes.

Several types of stress, including physical, mental and emotional stress, can increase levels of the stress hormone or cortisol which will signal cells to release blood glucose to deal with emergencies when stressed.

This continuous release of glucose will burden the pancreas to release more insulin, thus causing insulin resistance and even diabetes.

To avoid stress, there are several things you can do, such as breathing exercises, avoiding electronic devices two hours before bed, and even taking a salt water bath.
