Researchers have analyzed 2,200 people over the age of 65. They found four types of fatty acids contributed positively to human life expectancy.

One type of acid is omega-3 fatty acids. In 100 grams of salmon there is 2,260 mg of omega-3 fatty acids

The unsaturated fat content can also help balance cholesterol levels and prevent heart disease. This has been proven by a study that followed 152 pre-diabetic patients.

Some of them were fed two 200 gram cans of sardines every week. It was later found that the number of high-risk patients following a fish diet decreased from 37% to 8%.

100 grams of sardines contain 1,480 mg of omega-3 fatty acids.
