Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Korea together with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT Center) are presenting 24 food companies from South Korea at the SIAL Interfood 2024 exhibition on 13 – 16 November 2024 at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
In an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday, the Ministry of Agriculture and AT Center created a special booth called the Korea Pavilion by presenting 24 authentic South Korean food companies.
These companies carry various superior food products, such as strawberries, seaweed, kimchi, pears and Korean sauces.
“With a population of 280 million, Indonesia has unlimited growth potential for Korean food exports and can become the gateway to the world’s halal market because this country has the largest Muslim population in the world,” said Kwon Oh-yeop as Director of Food Exports, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT Center).

Not only showcasing superior products, the Korea Pavilion also displays a variety of ready-to-eat foods cooked directly by a chef from South Korea, Choi Jun-hyuk. The food served is bulgogi, tteokbokki, kimchijeon, japchae, and jangjorim which are cooked using authentic Korean food ingredients, and are certified halal.
Furthermore, the trend of South Korean food exports to Indonesia continues to increase every year. According to data from the AT Center, halal Korean food exports to Indonesia until September 2024 were recorded at 236 million United States dollars (around IDR 3.7 trillion) and increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period last year (YoY).
Even though the mandatory halal certification for imported products has been postponed for the next two years, the Indonesian market with a Muslim majority continues to urge Korean and AT companies to obtain halal certification for every food product from their country.
With halal certification, they hope that the distribution of South Korean food in Indonesia can run well. Not only that, they want to expand K-Halal Food sales in the Indonesian market so that more people will get to know the typical food from Ginseng Country.
“(Therefore), we plan to expand various export support projects so that K-Halal Food is increasingly loved in Indonesia,” said Kwon Oh-yeop ending the statement.
