Jakarta –
Drink coffee in the morning has become a routine for many people. However, this habit should be paid more attention to because it has the potential to speed up the aging process.
Before starting the day, many people choose to drink a cup of coffee. This seems to have become a common habit. In fact, according to a study conducted in 2020 by the National Coffee Association, 62% of Americans drink coffee every day.
Even though coffee brings benefits such as generating energy in the morning, some coffee drinking habits can actually have the opposite effect. If it is wrong, it can actually make a person experience aging more quickly.
To find out precisely the bad habits of drinking coffee that must be avoided, there are 5 explanations revealed by Lisa Moskovitz, RD, CEO of Nutrition Group.
Summarizing Eat This, Not That! (11/11), here are 5 coffee drinking habits that will make you grow old quickly:
1. Prefer to drink coffee rather than breakfast

Even though some people are not used to breakfast, replacing it with a cup of coffee is also not the right choice.
According to Moskovitz, skipping breakfast, which is considered the main meal, can lead to a less nutritious diet, which is particularly contrary to healthy aging.
A person who replaces his breakfast with coffee can also cause some serious health complications. A study found that a diet in which participants regularly skipped breakfast was associated with more cognitive decline than participants whose meal times were more balanced.
Instead of skipping breakfast and switching to coffee, Moskovitz recommends having a light breakfast with fresh fruit, whole grains or nuts which are rich in fiber and antioxidants.
2. Choose to drink lighter coffee with added sugar
Some people may not be familiar with coffee bitter. In fact, coffee blends are also free to suit individual tastes.
However, those who prefer their coffee blends added with cream and sweeteners, should be more careful. This is because, these ingredients can affect health, depending on the amount too.
Moskovitz revealed that sugar in moderation is not a problem. But if it’s too much, it will build up over time. As we get older, the accumulated sugar can cause increased blood sugar, inflammation and other health conditions.
Consuming too much sugar regularly can also affect skin conditions. This can contribute to faster skin aging, one of which can form AGEs (advanced glycation end products) which will damage skin collagen levels and reduce skin elasticity.
